The Reality Of Dreams

Qaadhi Thanaullah Panipati (RA) mentions in Tafseer Mazhari, ‘The images seen in sleep are known as dreams.’

Dreams are messengers from the unknown, voices from our collective subconscious, warners of deep inner disturbance in the individual psyche, bearing glad tidings of good things to come or echoes of happiness or sadness and long hidden memories. Some dreams belong to the domain of personal experience and some are prophetic voices of the future. They are a universal phenomenon. Hence, the art of interpretations is a science known to selected and gifted individuals.

Dreams are of 3 types:
a) Images of incidents which transpired in real life
b) Frightening images indoctrinated by Shaytaan.
c) Dreams in which Allah Ta’ala opens the unseen to the heart. This is a true dream.
The above 2 types of dreams are false dreams.
Allaamah Aloosi (RA), the mufti of Baghdad, explaining the reality and essence of dreams says, Allah Ta’ala creates in the heart of a sleeping person certain thoughts or images as he does to the heart of a conscious person. Allah then makes these thoughts or images signs to event which He will create in future.
Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said,

‘Nothing remains of prophethood but glad tidings.’

The companions asked, ‘What are gladtidings?’ Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘Pleasant true dreams’. True dreams constitute a portion of the knowledge and fundamental make-up of Nubuwwat (prophethood), hence, generally the more resemblance a person has with prophethood by his actions, speech, piety, knowledge and character, accordingly, his dreams will also generally be true.
Dreams are most potent during the latter part of the night, during siesta, during the time and during the fruit ripening season. This is probably, based on the Hadith, ‘When the time till draw near, the dreams of a Mu’min will not be false.’ Ulama has interpreted this to also mean, ‘the night and day being equal in duration and the abovementioned normally occurs when the day and night are equal in duration.

Ulama mention certain etiquettes of dreams, derived from the Ahaadith. Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has stated, ‘He should not narrate it to anyone’. It should be narrated to a beloved and intelligent person. Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘The dream is like a string suspended on the feet of a bird, as long as it is not related to anyone, the moment it is narrated, it will transpire.’

If a person sees an evil dream, he should;
a) Spit lightly 3 times to the left side,
b) Change the side on which he was sleeping,
c) Perform 2 Rakaats of Salaat seeking protection.

What Should One Do After Ramadhan !!

The holy month of Ramadan is drawing to a close and Inshallah we will soon be celebrating Eid. The excitement of Eid is all around us and all are busy with the preparations for Eid.

If we take a look at the past month, Alhamdulillah we did a great job. We obeyed Allah swt by fasting for full 30 days. We stayed away from haraam things to the best of our ability. We did not backbite nor fight. Our heart was filled with emaan and wherever we saw looked so beautiful.

We had indeed became a “Complete Muslim”.

A Muslim is a person who summits his will to Almighty God.

Now That You Have Become a Muslim, Stay as a Muslim…

Is this not what Allah swt expects from us?

After Ramadan, everything will be as it always was the same masjid, the same namaz, the sameMuezzin and the same azaan.
Hayya alas-Salah… Hayya alal-falah…
(Come to prayer – come to success).

But sadly these words wont matter for most of us.

After Ramadan, it is too difficult for us to get up for the Fajr namaz let alone going to the masjid for Fajr Salaat.

Once again our morning sleep will be having more importance than the call of Allah swt.

During Ramadan, we anxiously used to wait for the Fajr azaan to go the masjid but once Ramadan is over, when do we take time to wait for the azaan ?

Remember my brothers; the person who goes for Fajr Namaz in the darkness of the dawn will be having light on the Day of Judgment when we all are walking on the siraat.

Now That You Have Become a Muslim, Stay As a Muslim
.....And build your aakhira.

In the evenings, we used to come home early and sit for iftar and wait for the mouzieen to say the magrib azaan. But now who cares, right?
Work is once again will become more important than namaz

Or

I am traveling towards home during that time and hence cannot perform the magrib prayers on time.

Excuses…Excuses…

These are nothing but excuses which we use to absolve ourselves from our responsibilities as true Muslims.

When we will stop giving excuses and start living as a Muslim?

We stay away from TV and other haraam things for the whole one month of Ramadan. Mashallah we survived the temptations to see whats forbidden to see … because our emaan was strong.

If we can survive for 1 month, it is time for us to carry it forward.

However, as a practical person, I know it is very hard to continue in the same way as we did in Ramadan, we are bound to fall in to Satans trap.

But that does not give the liberty to start watching or doing zinaa with our eyes / hands / mouth and legs ?
Is this what Allah expects from us?
am not asking you to make impossible resolutions and say we are going to stay like this for next 11 months.

All I say is that let us take small steps and make small resolutions which we as a new Muslims can carry.

I urge our New Muslims not to loose their emaan and carry their emaan for another 2 months, till the Eid al-Adhaa (Bakri Eid).
It is hardly 2 months away.

If we could survive and resist temptations of Satan for one month, I am sure we can continue in the same vein for the next 2 months… cant we?
Yes we can… and we will strive do so.

After Eid-Al-Adhan when we look back we would see that we have been a full Muslim for past 3 months.

Inshallah by that time our emaan would be hard as a rock and then we will not need other person to tell us to “be a good Muslim”.

Thereafter, carrying this strong emaan for another 9 months till next Ramadan would not be difficult as it seems to be today.

Yes you can … All you have to do is one thing.
Stay As a Muslim
.
Assalamualekum wa rehmatullahi wa barakatuh !!

7 Reasons to Read the Glorious Qur’an !!

1. Inimitable:

It dares you to disprove it. How? It says that humans cannot write a book like this even if they pooled all their resources together and got help also from the spirits. The Qur’an said this issue fourteen hundred years ago and yet no one has been able to disprove it. Billions of books have been written but not another one like the Qur’an.

Say: "If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur’an, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support. " (Qur'an 017:088)

He, the Almighty, also says,

Orthey say: "He hath invented it". Say: "Then bring ten surahs, the like thereof, invented, and call on everyone ye can beside Allah, if ye are truthful !!" (Qur'an 011: 013)

2. Incorruptible:

It is the only religious sacred writing that has been in circulation for such a long time and yet remains as pure as it was in the beginning. The Qur’an was kept intact. Nothing was added to it; nothing was changed in it; and nothing was taken away from it ever since its revelation was completed 1400 years ago.

Allah Almighty has promised to protect it, He says,

"Surely We have revealed the Reminder (Qur’an) and We will assuredly guard it “from corruption”.(Qur'an 015: 09)

3. Unsurpassable:

The Qur’an is God’s final revelation to humankind. God revealed the Torah to Moses, the Psalms to David, the Gospel to Jesus, and finally the Qur’an to Muhammad salallahu 'alaihi wasallam . Peace be upon Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad salallahu 'alaihi wasallam. No other book will come from God to surpass His final revelation.

4. Indisputable:

The Qur’an withstands the test of time and scrutiny. No one can dispute the truth of this book. It speaks about past history and turns out right. It speaks about the future in prophecies and it turns out right. It mentions details of physical phenomena which were not known to people at the time; yet later scientific discoveries prove that the Qur’an was right all along. Every other book needs to be revised to accord with modern know ledge. The Qur’an alone is never contradicted by a newly discovered scientific fact.

5. Your Roadmap for Life and Afterlife:

The Qur’an is the best guidebook on how to structure your life. No other book presents such a comprehensive system involving all aspects of human life. The Qur’an also points out the way to secure everlasting happiness in the afterlife. It is your roadmap showing how to get to Paradise.

6. God’s Gift of Guidance:

God has not left you alone. You were made for a reason. God tells you why he made you, what he demands from you and what he has in store for you. If you operate a machine contrary to its manufacturer’s specification you will ruin that machine. What about you? Do you have an owner’s manual for yourself? The Qur’an is from your Maker. It is a gift for you to make sure you function for success, lest you fail to function.

It is a healing from God. It satisfies the soul, and cleans the heart. It removes doubts and brings peace.

7. Your Calling Card to Communicate with your Lord:

Humans are social creatures. We love to communicate with other intelligent life. The Qur’an tells us how to communicate with the source of all intelligence and the source of all life. The Qur’an tells us who God is, by what name we should address Him, and the way in which to communicate with Him.

Are these not seven sufficient reasons for reading the Qur’an?

How to End Racism !!

Recent events remind us that racism remains rampant. Yet we can easily end racism through understanding and education.

People must realize that God created all humans from one couple, thus making the entire human race one large extended family. God says:

“O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord who created you from a single soul (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife (Eve); and from the two of them He spread abroad a multitude of men and women…” (Qur’an 4:1).

Furthermore, we must understand that no race is superior to another. We appreciate a garden having many different flowers because we realize that each adds something to the beauty of the entire arrangement. This is why we do not object to the color of any flower. In a similar way we can see the world as a garden decorated with people of different colors. Let us appreciate that each variety of people contributes something to the spice of life in this world. God says:

“O mankind! We have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that you may know each other. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of Allah, is the most pious (righteous) of you.” (Qur’an 49:13)

The noblest are the most obedient to God. Such persons may belong to any race or country. What really matters is their conduct and behavior. The prophet Muhammad s.a.w.(pbuh) publicly declared that Arabs are not superior to non-Arabs, and one color is not superior to another. In a day when light-skinned people could not imagine a black person as their leader, the prophet appointed a black person, Usaamah, the son of Zaid, as a leader.

As a result of following these teachings, many people have banished racism from their thoughts and actions. You can still see racial harmony today in the mosques of cosmopolitan cities. You will find people of various colors worshipping together, all with equal status before God. Rich or poor, black or white, king or pauper all line up side by side to worship. No special preference is given to anyone based on color or social status. The leader in a mosque is appointed for his learning in the religious sciences, regardless of skin color. There is no such concept as a ‘black mosque’ or ‘white mosque’. Islam removes such destructive concepts.
